The Big Apple

Hey, anyone got any tips for things to do and see in New York City? I have a student who is very wealthy and planning a 10 day trip to NYC in September, so money is really no object. I have only been there once, so am not much good at making suggestions for things to do. I told him he should check out the cliche tourist stuff: Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, etc. I also suggested Atlantic City, since he loves to gamble.

Any other tips would be much appreciated. Also, is Atlantic City worth it? I have never been there.

Thanks!

Make sure he checks out "Ground Zero", Central Park, maybe the Hamptons since you said money was not a problem. Glad to hear that you are doing okay. Stay in touch.

I personally don't like Atlantic City. It has a depressing atmosphere. I have never been to Vegas but understand you can't compare the two!

I kind of stumbled across your blog (probably through RioGringa). I love seeing Brazil through the eyes of Americans (I am a Brazilian living in the US). I love Salvador although I don't know it well but I love it primarily because my dad lives there!

Thanks Jason!

Sonia, Thanks for the comment. Salvador is an interesting place for me, and while sometimes I hate it, there is a lot of great stuff here that make living here worthwhile.
